Mumbai to Nepal: Flight-First Trip Planning

How to plan Nepal from Mumbai without wasting a short holiday on unnecessary overland sectors.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

Mumbai to Nepal: Flight-First Trip Planning

For Mumbai travellers, Nepal is usually a flight-first holiday. Kathmandu becomes the logical arrival point, after which Pokhara, Chitwan or a pilgrimage extension can be added using domestic/local road planning. Overland travel from India only starts to make sense when the journey is deliberately long or the traveller is joining a group from a northern Indian gateway.

Protect the holiday time

A five- or six-day Nepal trip from Mumbai should spend the time inside Nepal, not crossing northern India overland.

Kathmandu is the hub

Start in Kathmandu, then decide whether the trip needs Pokhara, Chitwan or a longer pilgrimage sector.

Group departures are different

If joining a Gorakhpur-origin fixed departure, travel separately to the reporting city and treat that as a different product from a Mumbai-origin private trip.
