How Many Days Do You Need for Nepal?

4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 days: what realistically fits without turning the Nepal trip into a bus schedule.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

How Many Days Do You Need for Nepal?

Four days can work for a focused Kathmandu or Kathmandu–Pokhara trip when flights reduce road time. Five to six days works for a compact two-city or road circuit. Seven to eight days allows Chitwan, slower Pokhara time or a mountain/pilgrimage extension. The right answer depends more on travel mode than the number of destinations you want to tick off.

Four days

Keep the geography tight. Kathmandu works; Kathmandu–Pokhara can work better with flights than long road sectors.

Five to six days

This is the common sweet spot for a focused first trip or a compact Gorakhpur road circuit, but the itinerary must choose priorities.

Seven to eight days

The trip begins to breathe. Chitwan can get real activity time, Pokhara can get a full day and Kathmandu can extend into the valley.
